Our desire is to know what the Bible says. At Old Town we don't shy away from hard topics. If we don't have an answer to your question, we'll pray, research, and seek for answers. We believe the Bible is meant to be understood, this is best accomplished by exploring the author (The Holy Spirit and the inspired human writer) intention in the context they were writing in to the audience they were writing to (we usually call this "cultural context). Often church tradition gets taught as Truth, while we greatly respect and are thankful for all those who have come and gone before us, we desire to get back to the roots of our Faith not hold on to tradition. We believe an understanding of the Bible leads to transformation that causes us to live how Jesus desires us to live.

The Great Commission isn't optional. We believe in sharing the Gospel by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Our name Old Town Christian Outreach is intentional as we are an "Outreach" to the Old Town District of Saginaw and the ends of the earth. Along with the sharing of the Gospel Jesus calls believers to feed those who are hungry and cloth those who need clothing (Matthew 25:35–40). See our Soup Kitchen page for all of our outreach ministries and pray about getting involved!

The life of a disciple can be summed up as "Loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength; and loving your neighbor as yourself."
We desire to cultivate a relation with Jesus that is real, not simply words. Jesus didn't die on the cross to simply get us to heaven, He died on the cross to restore relationship with us (John 17:3).
At the same time, we are called to live in harmony with our brothers and sisters in Christ, to set our differences aside, reconcile our struggles, and be an example of the Love of Jesus. Jesus said, "By this all people will know that you are disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:35). All forms of hate and discrimination are demonic, we desire to have a multi-ethnic, multi-generation congregation joined together to bring glory to the King.
What is service like?
-
Services start at 9am and 11am. They go about an hour and a half each.
-
We start each service with praise and worship. We play modern songs with a mix of older songs (10+ years) and hymns. Hosting His Presence is our number one focus in our meetings.
As a believer, worship should be the cry of our heart. We believe we should come to exalt Jesus in song, praises, action, and thought. This is the most important thing we do daily and during our services is surrendering our life to Jesus in worship. We believe everyone should come expecting to encounter Him.
-
After worship we teach directly from the Word of God. We believe the bible in its entirety. We believe the answer to everything we face in life is found in scripture.
We focus primarily on the finished work of the cross, our relationship with Jesus, being the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and personal holiness.
We approach the Scriptures from the context the Bible was written in and are not afraid to deal with the “weird stuff” in the Bible. We believe that it is only when undertanding the Bible in it’s original context that we can properly apply the Bible to our lives.
-
We believe in prayer and the power of prayer. We believe in, make room for, and experience the gifts of the Holy Spirit today.
After each service we have a prayer team and/or pastors available at the to pray with you for whatever prayer need you have. We may also pray for healing, give a ‘tongue’ and interpretation, or share something the Lord has given us to speak, all consistent with the scripture and how the scripture teaches us about these things, to build up, encourage, and bring healing to the congregation. We have seen the Lord do wonderful things in our presence from healing people physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, setting people free from addiction and sin on the spot, and much more. God is alive, active, and will move if we allow Him, we hope you’ll come expecting Him to move in your life!
